Friends In today’s post . I am going to discuss possibility of using stem cell therapy for treating AIDS HIV.
We have came across new findings in resent days about bone marrow transplant which cured HIV AIDS in a patient.
It is quite possible to get rid of HIV Virus by this method, please read my earlier posts where , I have mentioned about how to treat a AIDS HIV positive individual , in brief I will write in few steps .
1.Start HARRT .till the virus load goes to the level of undetectable .
2.Give BCG and a flue vaccine immediately when one find that a person is HIV positive
3.Booster dose for BCG. If required. HARRT regimen has to be continued till the virus load is to the level of non detectable level.
4.Now it is time for regeneration of T –LYMPHOCYTES as I said in my earlier post we can use
T-lymphocytes which we have preserved.
The better option could be giving a stem cell therapy, to give raise to T- Lymphocytes which do not contain any virus DNA intercalated in them.
This could provide a complete life saving treatment for HIV positive
Exploring the use of Stem cells in treatment of HIV AIDS:-
Stem cells are cells which are found in most, if not all , multi-cellular organisms. Stem cells are are have great ability to renew themselves through mitotic cell division and give raise to a diverse range of specialized cell types.
There are two types of mammalian stem cells :
1. embryonic stem cells which are found in blastocysts.
2.adult stem cells that are found in adult tissues.
In an developing embryo, stem cells gives raise all of the specialized embryonic tissues.
In adult organisms, stem cells and progenitor cells form a repair system for our body, replenishing specialized cells, and maintain the normal turnover of regenerative organs and tissues, such as blood, skin or intestinal tissues.
Our science is developed to the such extent that we can grow stem cells and can be transformed to specialized cells with characteristics consistent with cells of various tissues such as muscles or nerves through cell culture, here we are interested in T-Lympocytic cells.
Adult stem cells from sources, like umbilical cord blood and bone marrow, are routinely used in medical therapies.
Embryonic cell lines and autologous embryonic stem cells which are generated through therapeutic cloning can be used for regenerative therapies for various body tissues and organs.
How this approach is advantageous:
As in case of HIV positive individual all of his T-cells are infected and the T-cells are caring HIV virus DNA in to them , as long as this T-lymphocytic cell is alive it tries to produce a HIV virus by default as and when this cell is caring its protein synthesis , or a normal metabolic process.
Giving stem cell therapy for HIV positive individual at the stage when his body is not detected with HIV virus after a stringent treatment with regime of drugs will provide HIV positive individual T-lympocytic cells which are not caring any HIV virus DNA (provirus).
